Session One: In this inaugural session Andrew shares the vision behind the meditation gatherings, and why meditation is so central to the journey of awakening, or lucidity in its deepest sense. He reviews the three wisdom tools (three prajnas) of hearing, contemplating, and meditating, and how they act as a filtration and purification system leading to the literal incorporation (embodiment) of the teachings.

Meditation Group is Offered Every Monday Evening:

The weekly meditation sessions are devoted exclusively to meditation and the topics that support it. Andrew, Joe Parent, and Jeffery Stevens offer in-depth talks on all aspects of meditation, drawing on their decades of meditation practice and teaching. They also offer guided meditations and, in many sessions, a chance to sit in meditation together. Each session allows participants time to ask questions or share insights, and will be recorded and archived for your future reference.

Practices Include:

Meditation: Shamatha, vipashyana, analytic meditation, insight meditation, open awareness, tonglen practice (a practice that focuses on compassion), metta meditation (loving kindness meditation), the reverse meditations, visualization practice,  mantra meditation, integral meditation, the inner yogas, chakra meditation, somatic meditation, the “emergency meditations,” the formless meditations, non-dual meditations, generation stage practices, completion stage practices, the five nocturnal meditations, and a host of others.

Contemplations: The art of contemplation will also be presented, with guided instruction on: the four immeasurables, the four reminders, lojong (mind training slogans), the four “pointing outs,” the bardo prayers, the four steps of realization, and many others.

Obstacles and Blind Spots in Meditation: Including laxity, excitation, discouragement, laziness, fear, poverty mentality, spiritual bypassing, spiritual materialism, Buddhist exceptionalism, and a host of other traps, along with their antidotes, will be offered.

The Monday Meditation Group is much more than just practicing together, it is a systematic and thorough presentation of a number of meditations, with extensive references that support them.

How Does Meditation Relate to Lucid Dreaming?

The single most important thing you can do to have lucid dreams is to work with the lucidity principle to work with a lucid mind. Basically, that means meditate. If you want to have lucid dreams, meditate. If you want to have more lucid dreams. meditate more. You want to have lucid dreams all the time, dedicate your life to meditation.
