| 73 | Introducing the “Hand Mindfulness” Practice – with Joe Parent

Opened by introducing the “hand mindfulness” practice, as well as a way to count breaths without thinking the numbers—by using the beads on a mala.

For the main practice, after clearing tension and grounding ourselves, we place attention on the internal sensations of filling as the breath comes in and emptying as the breath goes out. Then we let our mind join the outbreath, and as the breath dissolves into the atmosphere our sense of self-consciousness dissolves and mixes with space.
The next practice was working with a deep session of tonglen, taking away suffering and negativity and sending out peace and happiness, beginning with ourselves, extending to loved ones, and then to the greater world. To conclude there was a short q&a period, then we dedicated the practice session to the benefit of all beings.
