Science has a great deal to offer in terms of understanding our sleep cycles, and when to apply the induction methods appropriate to different stages of sleep. By understanding these stages you can greatly increase your chances of attaining lucidity. The science of sleep can also help us with very practical matters: how to practice good sleep hygiene; how to manage sleep disorders like insomnia; understanding melatonin, caffeine, sleep medications and sleep paralysis; the role of sleep in aging, memory, and disease – to name just a few.
